Artist, lighting designer, and research scientist.

Kate Sweater Hickcox is an artist, award-winning architectural lighting designer, and energy and environment research scientist. She holds a BFA in Furniture Design from RISD and an MS in Lighting Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her artistic practice spans illustration, painting, sculpture, and metalwork. As a Lighting Fellow for the Design Trust for Public Space, she co-designed a community park with NYC Housing Authority residents. Her research focuses on energy efficiency, lighting quality, and sustainable design. She has published widely, presented at major industry conferences, and served as a guest critic at RISD, Parsons, and RPI.
