Dwaal diffraction spectroscope pendant. A spectroscope includes a few major features:  a slit for admitting a narrow beam of light into the spectroscope chamber, a prism or diffraction grating that spreads the incident light into its component wavelengths, a small hole for viewing the diffracted light.
